41 Weeks Pregnant
Week 41
Many pregnant women go past their due date, so don’t worry if you’ve not given birth yet! Your midwife and GP won’t be too concerned until you reach 10-12 days after your due date, but you may be offered something called a membrane sweep.
A membrane sweep is performed by your midwife or doctor. They will sweep their finger around the cervix to separate it from the membranes that are around your baby. This has been shown to stimulate the production of hormones that cause uterine contractions. Many women enter labour just 24-48 hours after a sweep.
