Good to know

  1. 1When to packAim to have your bag ready about 3 weeks before your due date. Few babies arrive on the day itself, and yours could come earlier.
  2. 2Check what your hospital providesYour hospital or birth centre may have its own list. Ask what they provide, such as nappies, and whether there are limits on what you can bring.
  3. 3Keep the number handySave your maternity unit’s number in your phone and your birth partner’s, so you know who to call when labour starts or if you’re worried.

For more on what to pack and why, read our full hospital bag guide, and see signs of labour for when to call your maternity unit.
